Following a spurt in Swine flu deaths in Kerala in India during the pre-monsoon season, a team of experts from the Centre visited hospitals in the state capital and met senior officials on Wednesday 16th June 2010.
According to official statistics report, 17 people have died of H1N1 flu in about a month and another 201 people have been diagnosed with the disease affects. Most of the victims are pregnant women people. The state of kerala has sought 1 lakh doses of the vaccine for pregnant women.
The Central team included Sunil Gupta, joint director (microbiology), National Centre for Disease Control and Dr Pradeep of Emergency Medical Services and the relief division of the Directorate General of Health Services.
